Subperiosteal Ganglion of the Tibia
Abstract
A subperiosteal ganglion is rare. Since the original description by Poncet (1874), only isolated cases have been reported. So far as the author is aware, a very few report of a subperiosteal ganglion with the radiological findings to be reported here has been published. Previous reports have stressed the concavity in cortex, osteosclerosis of bone or radiolucency produced by ganglia attached to the periosteum. This report describes a middle aged man with a subperiosteal ganglion of the tibia with a striking radiological findings of the outgrowth of bony spicules from the cortex which are quite different from those of the previous reports.
